There wasn't a single team in the FBS that went undefeated last season, and this year's crop has shrunk significantly. However, one week after four undefeated teams in the top 25, including three ranked in the top 10, suffered their first losses of the season, all eight remaining undefeated teams stayed perfect through Week 8. The Week 9 college football schedule brings road games for five undefeated teams and a pair of rivalry matchups.

The following undefeated teams are listed by their rankings in the AP Top 25 Poll:

No. 1 Alabama (8-0)

Week 9 opponent: LSU (5-2)

Forecast: The Tide have out-scored their opponents by 266 points through eight weeks. Next up is an intriguing LSU team coming off a big win over Florida and a showdown with Ole Miss. Can anyone keep Alabama in check?

No. 2 Penn State (7-0)

Week 9 opponent: at Ohio State (6-1)

Forecast: With a 42-13, revenge-fueled win over Michigan in Week 8, Penn State passed the first test in a challenging three-week stretch that includes road games at Ohio State and Michigan State in the next two weeks. The Nittany Lions' schedule eases up after the first week of November but they'll have to back up their No. 2 ranking against the Buckeyes and Spartans.

No. 3 Georgia (7-0)

Week 9 opponent: Florida (3-3)

Forecast: After a bye week in Week 8, the Bulldogs will travel to Jacksonville for a neutral site matchup against Florida, which has lost its last two games by a combined three points. Georgia's toughest remaining regular season games are at Auburn (Nov. 11) and at Georgia Tech (Nov. 25). It might be too soon to talk about a 12-0 start for the Dawgs but it's not out of the question.

No. 17 South Florida (7-0)
