The 2014 NIT Season Tip-Off field will feature eight Division I teams and two Division II teams. The eight Division I teams will play at least three games as part of the Season Tip-Off and all eight will play at least one game at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Semifinals/Championship (Third-place game)
New York’s historic Madison Square Garden will host a total of six games as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off. St. John’s (N.Y.) and Minnesota will start a semifinal doubleheader on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. ET. Gonzaga will then face Georgia at 9:30 p.m. in the second semifinal. The losing teams from the semifinals will play in a third-place game on Nov. 28, with the championship game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
New for 2014, four other NIT Season Tip-Off teams will have the chance to play in the “World’s Most Famous Arena.” LIU-Brooklyn and Stony Brook will start a Thanksgiving doubleheader at Madison Square Garden at 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27 while Western Kentucky and Saint Joseph’s meet in the nightcap at 6 p.m.
