FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Sports Network) - Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett suffered a broken bone in his left foot on Wednesday and will miss spring practice.
Mallett is expected to be sidelined for three to four months after breaking
the bone during conditioning drills in the morning.
"It is unfortunate since Ryan works extremely hard and has made a commitment
to the Razorbacks," said team head coach Bobby Petrino. "I am confident in our
athletic trainers and medical staff and believe they are the best in the
country. Ryan is a strong competitor who I know will put all his effort into
overcoming his injury and continuing to lead this team."
Mallett finished the 2009 season with 3,624 passing yards and 30 touchdowns
while matching or exceeding 16 school records. The former Michigan standout
recently chose to forego the 2010 NFL Draft and return for his junior season
in Fayetteville.
