STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State head football coach Dan Mullen made a priority of recruiting the best players in the state of Mississippi, and for the second consecutive class, the Bulldogs have shown their focus on in-state talent. Mississippi State signed 26 players in its 2010 class, including 18 from the Mississippi ranks. Last season State inked 27, with 19 coming from within state borders.

“We wanted to put together a class of champions that will take pride in representing the entire state of Mississippi,” Mullen said. “I’m proud of the work our staff has done in bringing in the best from around the state and adding great talent to our team from both inside and outside of Mississippi.”

The class includes six members of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger’s Dandy Dozen, a listing of the 12 best players in the state of Mississippi, and four members of the Clarion-Ledger’s Ten Most Wanted, a list of the most highly recruited prospects in the state.

Mississippi State’s 2009 class includes five of the Rivals.com top 10 in Mississippi and nine of the Scout.com top 20 prospects in state.

Among the players that signed NCAA National Letters of Intent on Wednesday are Michael Carr of West Point, Kaleb Eulls of Yazoo City, Robert Johnson of Hattiesburg, Nick Griffin of New Augusta, Damien Robinson of Olive Branch and Matthew Wells of Monticello. All six of those players were listed among the top 10 prospects in the state.

Mississippi State also signed the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive year, inking Dylan Favre of Bay St. Louis. Favre is also the second-consecutive Parade All-American quarterback signed by head coach Dan Mullen.
