FARGO, N.D.- Friday night's Football Bowl Championship Subdivision Semifinal game was a closely contested contest, but Brock Jensen's 5-yard run to convert a fourth down ultimately sealed the deal with under three minutes remaining in North Dakota State's 23-20 triumph over Georgia Southern.
The Bison (13-1) advanced to the FCS title game for the second consecutive season and will defend their title from a season ago against the winner of Saturday's showdown between Sam Houston State and Eastern Washington.
The run by Jansen could not have come at a more crucial time for the Bison. Facing a fourth down-and-3, Jensen took a quarterback draw five yards to pick up the first down and seal the win over Georgia Southern (10-4). The Bison picked up the win despite being outgained on the evening by a total of 43o yards to 277.
Georgia Southern quarterback Jerick McKinnon racked up 168 yards and a score on the ground for the Eagles, but it was not enough to secure a spot in the FCS Championship Game on Jan. 5.
