Winston-Salem State Slips Past IUP, 21-17

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - IUP football dropped a 21-17 decision to Winston-Salem State on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Division II Football Championship Super Region 1 finals in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The contest marked the first time since the 1999 season that IUP played in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The NCAA postseason appearance is the first in five years for IUP and the 15th time in program history. IUP now holds an 18-15 record in the Division II playoffs, with national championship game appearances in 1990 and 1993.  

IUP finishes the season holding a 12-2 overall record and the 2012 PSAC Conference championship title, its first since 1987.

Winston Salem will now play West Texas A&M on December 8, in the NCAA Semifinals.
