WILMINGTON, Ohio – No. 1 ranked Mount Union scored on its first six possessions and the Purple Raiders posted their fourth consecutive shutout with a 66-0 victory over Wilmington Saturday.
Mount Union (5-0, 4-0 OAC) posts its 68 consecutive regular season victory while Wilmington (0-5, 0-4 OAC) took its 31 st consecutive loss.
Senior Nick Driskill (Wabash, Ind./Southwood) had four tackles for loss to lead a defense, ranked No. 1 in the nationally that held Wilmington to 92 total yards including minus-14 yards rushing.
The offense generated 587 yards as senior running backs Jake Simon (Parma Heights/Holy Name) and T.J. Lattimore (Maple Heights/Maple Heights) each ran for two scores while fellow senior Blair Skilliter (Curtice/Genoa) also ran for a score to pace the offense.
Sophomore quarterback Kevin Burke (Westlake/Lakewood St. Edward) played five possessions of the first half and completed 14-of-15 passes for 134 yards. He tossed one touchdown to senior Jasper Collins (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva), who finished with five catches for 34 yards.
Senior Chris Denton (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) was the top receiver as he had six catches for 83 yards.
Backup quarterback Roman Namdar (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) was 9-for-9 passing, rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to Jack Nicholls (Galion/Galion).
Mount Union returns home next week to host Capital for homecoming at 1:30 pm at Mount Union Stadium.
