BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (Sports Network) - Former Eastern Illinois head football coach Bob Spoo has been elected into the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame.

Spoo, who retired after last season, will be officially inducted at the annual OVC honors brunch on June 1 in Nashville.

Spoo won 144 games over 25 years (1987-2011) at Eastern Illinois. His squads earned five OVC championships and nine FCS playoff appearances.

After EIU joined the OVC in 1996, Spoo led the Panthers to 68 conference wins, which rank fourth in conference history.

The coaching veteran of 50 years was the national runner-up for the Eddie Robinson Award in 2000.
