CHARLESTON, S.C. â€“ The Citadel Athletics Department released the 2010 Bulldog Football schedule on Friday, with the road opener at Football Bowl Subdivision Arizona highlighting the line-up.
The 2010 slate consists of 11 games, six of which will be played at Johnson Hagood Stadium. The Bulldogs open the season on Sept. 4 competing at home against the Chowan Hawks of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). They will then travel out west to take on the Pacific-10â€™s Arizona Wildcats for the first meeting between the two teams on Sept. 11. The following week, Presbyterian will return to JHS for the second consecutive season on Sept. 18.
Southern Conference action will kickoff for the Bulldogs on the road at Furman on Sept. 25, followed by two homes games against Western Carolina on Oct. 2 and a Parents Day matchup against Chattanooga on Oct. 9. The Citadel will then travel to the newly renovated Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, N.C. to take on 2009 SoCon Champion Appalachian State on Oct. 16. The Citadel will host the Georgia Southern Eagles, under the direction of new head coach Jeff Monken, the following week on Oct. 23. The month of October will end with the Bulldogs at Wofford on the 30th.
The Citadel will return to Johnson Hagood Stadium for the 83rd Homecoming celebration against Elon on Nov. 6 before taking a late bye week on the 13th. The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season on Nov. 20 at Samford in Birmingham, Ala.
