Patriot League Announces Players of the Week

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Four different Patriot League schools had a student-athlete honored with a football weekly award on Monday, with Colgate senior quarterback Greg Sullivan capturing the Offensive Player of the Week honor after an outstanding outing against Princeton.

Lehigh junior linebacker Mike Groome received the Defensive Player of the Week award, while Lafayette freshman wide receiver/kick returner Jet Kollie was named Special Teams Player of the Week and Bucknell freshman quarterback Brandon Wesley took home his fourth straight Rookie of the Week honor.

Sullivan completed 14-of-16 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 91 yards in Colgate's 44-10 victory at Princeton. Groome tallied 11 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in Lehigh's 21-17 win over Fordham.

Kollie averaged 22.8 yards on five kickoff returns in Lafayette's 42-28 loss at Columbia, while Wesley threw for 118 yards in Bucknell's 31-10 loss to Penn.

Patriot League Football Weekly Awards (Oct. 9)

Offensive Player of the Week
Greg Sullivan, QB, Colgate Sr., 6-0, 215 (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury)

Sullivan earns the Offensive Player of the Week award after an outstanding all-around effort in Colgate's 44-10 thrashing of Princeton Saturday. He completed 14-of-16 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns and carried nine times for 91 yards to put up 296 yards of total offense. He helped the Raiders amass 565 yards of total offense in the game. Sullivan recorded the seventh 200-yard passing game of his career and first this season with more than 200 yards passing and two touchdowns. He earns the Offensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season and fifth in his career.

Defensive Player of the Week
Mike Groome, LB, Lehigh Jr., 6-3, 240 (Byram, N.J./Lenape Valley)

Groome totaled 11 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble while making plays at key moments in Lehigh's 21-17 victory over Fordham Saturday. He led Lehigh while matching his career high in tackles. The sacks both came in the first half, one on a third down in the red zone which forced a field goal attempt and the other on a 4th-and-1 play from the Lehigh two yard line early in the second quarter. He forced a fumble on a play where Fordham had first-down yardage on a fake punt. Groome receives the Defenisve Player of the Week award for the first time.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Jet Kollie, WR/KR, Lafayette Fr., 5-6, 160 (Lowell, Mass./Lowell)

Kollie returned five kickoffs for 114 yards in Lafayette's 42-28 loss to Columbia Saturday. He had a long return of 30 while averaging 22.8 yards on the five touches. He also had a seven-yard run in his lone carry of the game. Kollie receives the Special Teams Player of the Week award for the first time.

Rookie of the Week
Brandon Wesley, QB, Bucknell Fr., 6-2, 178 (Plano, Texas/Plano East)

Wesley maintains his hold on the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award with his fourth honor in five games played this season. He completed 14-of-21 passes for 118 yards in Bucknell's 31-10 loss to Penn Saturday. Wesley has 770 passing yards for the season, 64 shy of breaking Bucknell's freshman record. His 78 completions are already the most of any freshman in Bison history.

Honorable Mention

Bill Edger, WR, Holy Cross Sr., 6-3, 197 (Hainesport, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep (Pa.)

Edger caught seven passes for 61 yards and a pair of 12-yard touchdowns as Holy Cross defeated Brown 17-13.

Chris Lum, QB, Lehigh Jr., 6-2, 205 (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion)

Lum completed 14-of-23 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns in Lehigh's 21-17 win over Fordham Saturday.
